Dream - The Directorate General of Customs and Excise has recently become a hot topic because many people complain about its policies.
Complaints from the public range from immigration policies, imports, migrant workers, to import duties that are considered unreasonable. Looking at its performance, in which position is the Indonesian customs duty among Southeast Asian countries?
"If compared with World Bank data, customs services in Indonesia are not the top in ASEAN. According to the Logistics Performance Index (LPI) data from World Bank 2023, as quoted from Liputan6.com, Singapore's customs occupies the first position."
Logistics Performance Index (LPI) measures the efficiency of logistics services in various countries based on six main dimensions: customs efficiency, infrastructure, international shipments, competence and quality of logistics services, tracking and tracing, and timeliness. These rankings and scores help identify areas that need improvement and encourage countries to continuously enhance their services. Here is the ranking of Indonesian Customs compared to ASEAN countries.
The ASEAN country that ranks first for Customs Services is Singapore. With an overall score of 4.0. This Lion City is known for its excellent customs efficiency, thanks to advanced technology and automated processes.
Then in second place is the White Elephant Country, namely Thailand, with a score of 3.5. Thailand has experienced a significant improvement in the efficiency of its customs and logistics services.
3. Malaysia As for third place with a score of 3.4, Malaysia occupies it, showing the effectiveness of its customs system and developing logistics infrastructure. 4. Vietnam With a score of 3.3, Vietnam continues to show improvement in its customs services, thanks to ongoing reforms.
Indonesia is ranked fifth in ASEAN with a score of 3.2. The Indonesian government is considered to be continuously striving to improve efficiency through modernization and digitization of customs duties.
6. Philippines The Philippines received a score of 3.0, indicating that there is still room for improvement in terms of customs services. 7. Brunei Darussalam Next, in 7th place, there is Brunei Darussalam with a score of 2.9. This country continues to develop its customs system to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
8. LaosScore 2.7 reflects Laos' efforts in improving customs services, although there are still significant challenges that need to be overcome.9. MyanmarRanked at the bottom in ASEAN with a score of 2.5, Myanmar still faces many challenges in terms of customs services and logistics.
