Dream - The Ministry of Religious Affairs (Kemenag) has issued Minister of Religious Affairs Decree (KMA) Number 1360 of 2021 regarding Materials Exempted from Halal Certification Obligations. The regulation states that not all products or materials circulating in Indonesia are required to have halal certification.
"The establishment of rules regarding materials exempted from the obligation to obtain halal certification is intended as a guide and legal certainty regarding materials that are not required to obtain halal certification as regulated in Article 62 paragraph (2) of Government Regulation (PP) Number 39 of 2021 concerning the Implementation of the Halal Product Guarantee Field."
Head of the Halal Product Assurance Agency (BPJPH) of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Muhammad Aqil Irham, stated in his statement, Sunday, June 2, 2024.
Aqil Irham explains that the decision regulates that the materials exempted from the obligation of halal certification include three categories.
First, materials derived from nature such as plants and minerals without undergoing any processing. Second, materials categorized as not posing a risk of containing prohibited substances.
"Not Harmful"
And thirdly, materials that are not classified as dangerous and do not involve forbidden substances. As for the materials, they come from nature without any processing or physical alteration, and without the addition of other substances, consisting of:
The material comes from plants or crops without any processing or physically processed and without the addition of auxiliary materials, additives, or other materials. The material comes from non-slaughtered animals without any processing or physically processed and without the addition of auxiliary materials, additives, or other materials.
3. The material originates from a process of microbial fermentation without any processing or physical processing and without the addition of auxiliary materials, additional materials, or other substances. 4. The material originates from natural water without any processing or physical processing and without the addition of auxiliary materials, additional materials, or other substances.
"Examples include fresh fruit, fresh vegetables, dried vegetables, cereals, tubers, nuts, fresh seaweed, corn rice, dried grated coconut, pure coconut, fresh milk, fresh eggs, fresh or frozen fish, dried, or salted, all are exempted from halal certification," said Aqil Irham."
Meanwhile, non-risky materials containing and/or contaminated by non-halal materials consist of materials other than those derived from nature, as well as materials and chemical products resulting from mining or inorganic and organic synthesis. Then, non-hazardous materials that do not contain non-halal materials consist of chemical materials resulting from mining and/or purification processes from natural materials. And inorganic and organic synthesized chemical materials.
