Dream - Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan assesses that Indonesia has the potential to earn profits of Rp12 trillion from used cooking oil. It is known that used cooking oil can be used as sustainable aviation fuel.
Not just saying it, Luhut revealed that the use of used cooking oil as aircraft fuel has been implemented in two neighboring countries of Indonesia, namely Malaysia and Singapore.
He said quoted from Instagram post @luhut.pandjaitan.
In the Meeting of the Roadmap and National Action Plan for the Development of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) Industry, Luhut noted that Indonesia has the potential to supply 1 million liters of used cooking oil annually. The majority, or 95 percent, of this used cooking oil is exported to various countries.
Referring to data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA), Indonesia is predicted to become the fourth largest aviation market in the world in the coming decades. With this position, the estimated assumption of avtur fuel needs is around 7,500 tons of liters by 2030. Meanwhile, it is predicted that sales of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) domestically and for export can generate profits of up to Rp12 trillion per year.
Luhut's words.
In addition, according to Luhut, the development of the SAF industry will also serve as a gateway for further private and state-owned biofuel refinery investments.
"ungkap Luhut" translates to "revealed Luhut."
Luhut assesses, the effort to create Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) is not only an innovation, but also must be a commitment in reducing global carbon emissions. "With the increasing air traffic, carbon emissions will continue to increase. Therefore, intervention to reduce carbon emissions is important. I target that after the issuance of the Presidential Regulation, SAF can be launched with its legal umbrella at the latest during @baliairshow, next September," said Luhut.
