"Criteria for Workers who are not Required to Contribute to Tapera"

Dream - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has established a revision of the regulation on the implementation of the People's Housing Savings (Tapera), in which employees from private companies are now also subject to Tapera contributions.

Criteria for Workers who are not Required to Contribute to Tapera

That is stated in Government Regulation (PP) of the Republic of Indonesia Number 21 of 2024 concerning Amendments to Government Regulation Number 25 of 2020 concerning the Implementation of People's Housing Savings (Tapera), signed by Jokowi on May 20, 2024.

In article 5, paragraph 2, Government Regulation Number 25 of 2020 regarding Tapera states that participants consist of workers and self-employed workers.

Article 7 mentions that the workers referred to include candidates for civil servants, state civil apparatus employees, Indonesian National Army soldiers, Indonesian National Army student soldiers, members of the Indonesian Republic State Police, state officials.

Then, workers/employees of state/regional-owned enterprises, workers/employees of village-owned enterprises, workers/employees of private-owned enterprises, and workers who are not included as employees.

a. Retired for employees. Reached the age of 58 (fifty-eight) years for self-employed workers. Participant passed away, or Participant no longer meets the criteria as a Participant for 5 (five) consecutive years.

               

To be noted, Tapera will be managed by the Tapera Management Agency (BP Tapera), which is a legal entity established to manage Tapera. The government sets Tapera contributions at 3 percent of the salary or wages for worker participants and self-employed workers.
