Dream - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has decided to continue the food assistance program (banpang) in the form of rice until the end of 2024.
Head of the National Food Agency (NFA), Arief Prasetyo Adi, said that President Jokowi has approved the continuation of rice food aid after June. The aid will be provided again in August, October, and December of this year.
"The President Jokowi has approved the continuation of the rice aid program to be distributed to 22 million families across Indonesia, in the form of 10 kilograms of the best quality rice from Bulog per family every 2 months. So, this pro-people program will continue in 2024 after June, specifically in August, October, and December,"
"revealed Arief quoted from Liputan6.com, Tuesday, June 4, 2024."
Helping with money for food is a government program to assist less fortunate communities in meeting their food needs. Rice Aid is a government program that distributes rice sourced from the Government Rice Reserves (CBP) managed by Bulog.
This assistance is provided to beneficiary families (KPM) who have been registered in the Integrated Social Welfare Data (DTKS) and non-DTKS.
Arief said, the sustainability of this rice banpang is becoming important, especially as global food prices begin to show an increase, so Indonesia must start preparing.
"We in Indonesia have this banpang because no other country provides free food assistance in the form of rice, except Indonesia. With this instrument, we believe we can maintain both the condition of the rice harvest and national inflation."
"ungkapnya" translates to "he/she expressed."
Arief said that the provision of food assistance has proven the presence and attention of the government that continues to support the economy of 22 million families. "If we consider each family individually, it could reach around 89 million, which means almost one-third of the Indonesian population is provided with good quality rice from the government through Bulog," he explained.
"Previously, Jokowi has already signaled continued food assistance while monitoring the distribution of rice aid in Lubuklinggau, South Sumatra on May 30, 2024."
"Later, I will look at what is called the fiscal budget of the state budget. I will announce it in June, but it seems like it can be continued. Please pray together, everyone. The decision will be seen later in this June. (For example) oh, there is a budget, (it can) continue until December."
clear Jokowi at that time.
