Minister of Communication and Information Threatens to Block Telegram This Week:

Budi added, Telegram did not respond to the warning letter because it does not have a representative office in Indonesia. If they do not heed the third warning, Telegram will be closed. "Not yet because they don't have a representative here. We will close the third warning," he concluded.

Budi previously considered Telegram as the most uncooperative social media platform with the government in eradicating online gambling in Indonesia. He has issued an ultimatum to Telegram and threatened to block the application if they do not assist the government in combating online gambling practices.

"I'll just mention here that Telegram is uncooperative. Please note, feel free to write in the media, only Telegram is completely uncooperative," said Budi during a press conference on the development of online gambling handling in the country, on Friday, May 24, 2024. Budi also issued a strong warning to all platforms in the country not to attempt to broadcast online gambling-related content."
