Dream - The power outage that occurred in the southern part of Sumatra (Sumbagsel) on Tuesday, June 4, until Wednesday, June 5, 2024, has caused a sensation among the public. This blackout or total power outage is quite extensive, not just in one region.
PT PLN (Persero) stated that the power outage is suspected to be caused by a disruption in the transmission of the 275 kV Lubuklinggau-Lahat SUTT. As for the power outage, it affected approximately 600 thousand customers.
According to Liputan6.com, General Manager of PLN UID Sumbar, Eric Rossi Priyo Nugroho, said that from the inspection conducted by field officers, PLN found minor causes such as towers located near trees, disconnected jumpers, and others. However, it cannot yet be confirmed as the main cause.
Meanwhile, the Director General of Electricity of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Jisman Hutajulu, said that he has not received complete information regarding the cause of the power disruption.
However, he ensures that the relay (which functions to control the flow of electricity) works well, so that when there is a disruption, the electricity flow is also interrupted.
"The relay works to turn off, that's the essence," said Jisman quoted from Merdeka.com, Thursday, June 6, 2024. In addition, Jisman also asked PLN to take mitigation measures to prevent the blackout incident from happening again. "It must be investigated. It must be audited. Do not let it happen again, that's also an order from Minister," said Jisman."
"Compensation from PLN"
From the incident, PT PLN (Persero) promises compensation for customers in West Sumatra affected by power outages. The compensation provided is a 10 percent reduction in electricity tariffs.
Eric Rossi Priyo Nugroho said, this compensation applies to PLN customers who are affected by power outages for more than 8 hours.
"The compensation is given when there is an eight-hour power outage. So, if the outage is more than eight hours, we will provide a 10 percent discount as compensation."
