Dream - The price of red onions is now almost reaching Rp80,000 per kilogram (kg). Minister of Trade, Zulkifli Hasan, mentioned that one of the causes of the increase in the price of red onions is due to the lack of traders. This is because it is still within the Eid period.

"First day of Eid, as you know, everyone is on holiday, so there are fewer traders. The ones who trade in the markets now, I think this week will be back to normal."
said Zulfikli quoted from Merdeka.com, Thursday April 25, 2024.

According to Zulkifli, this week it is estimated that the prices of basic necessities will return to normal. This is because the distribution of goods has been running as it was before the Eid period.

Isy conveys that the policy for handling the price of imported shallots is under the authority of Bapanas. Nevertheless, the Ministry of Trade will continue to monitor the price development in the market.

Apart from that, the government is currently looking at the availability of shallot stock in Bima, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB).

"Now we are seeing what Bima, NTB looks like. The source of shallots is also available in Bima, not only in Brebes."

"ujar Isy." translates to "said Isy."

Based on the food price panel from Bapanas on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, the national average price for shallots is Rp53,240 per kilogram. Meanwhile, the highest price reached Rp79,520 per kilogram in Central Papua, and the lowest price is Rp35,520 per kilogram in the Riau Islands.
