Dream - Minister of Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Hadi Thahjanto revealed that there has been an increase in the use of online gambling in Indonesia until 2024. This can be seen based on data from the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK) from 2017 to 2024.

Hadi explained that in 2023, as many as 3.2 million citizens played online gambling. Of that number, 80 percent played below the value of Rp100,000, resulting in a total turnover of Rp327 trillion.

Then in the first quarter of 2024, there was a recorded turnover of Rp100 trillion. "And in the first quarter, this year 2024, it recorded 100 T, extraordinary, this is also an aggregate," he said.

Furthermore, Hadi said, Kominfo has taken action against as many as 805,923 online gambling contents until December 30, 2023. He said, the online gambling servers originated from abroad.

In addition, Hadi also revealed that the Financial Services Authority (OJK) noted there are 5,000 suspicious accounts. Among them, there is a high frequency of transactions despite the small value.
