Dream - The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reported that Indonesia's economic growth throughout 2023 reached 5.05 percent year on year (yoy). This figure is lower compared to 2022, where Indonesia's economic growth could reach 5.31 percent. Although slightly declining, the achievement of national economic growth last year is still better than several countries in the world. Indonesia can even surpass the United States and Japan whose economies grew smaller.

"Amalia also stated that Indonesia's economic growth in the fourth quarter of 2023 remains solid with an achievement of 5.04 percent. "Amidst the global economic slowdown and decline in commodity prices, Indonesia's economy in the fourth quarter of 2023 still grew solidly by 5.04 percent year on year," she said."

If we look at the sources of its growth, the Indonesian economy is still supported by Java Island, which contributes up to 57 percent. Followed by Sumatra with 22.01 percent; Kalimantan with 8.49 percent; Sulawesi with 7.10 percent; Bali and Nusa Tenggara with 2.77 percent; as well as Maluku and Papua with 2.58 percent. However, in terms of growth, the Maluku and Papua regions recorded the highest increase, which is 6.94 percent; followed by Sulawesi Island with 6.37 percent; Kalimantan Island with 5.43 percent; Java Island with 4.96 percent; and Sumatra Island with 4.69 percent.
