During this period, the average global temperature was 1.3 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial temperatures. The Climate Central study mentions that Indonesia has also experienced a rise in temperature over the past year. Based on the Climate Shift Index calculations, Indonesia ranks at the top among G20 member countries with an average score of 2.4, surpassing Saudi Arabia (2.3) and Mexico (2.1).

The analysis by Climate Central on 14 cities in Indonesia shows that there are nine cities experiencing consecutive hottest days. Jakarta and Tangerang recorded consecutive hottest days for 17 days, making these two cities, along with New Orleans in the United States, rank second on the list of cities worldwide with consecutive hottest days. Meanwhile, the Head of the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), Dwikorita Karnawati, stated that data from the World Meteorological Organization indicates that 2023 is the hottest year on record in climate history.
