Dream - SEEK, the company that oversees Jobstreet and Jobsdb, has published its latest exclusive report "Hiring, Compensation, and Benefits Report 2024 (SEA Edition)". This survey involved 3,750 recruitment professionals from various companies and industries in five ASEAN countries during September 2023. Among them were 673 in Singapore, 454 in Malaysia, 1,180 in Indonesia, 758 in Thailand, and 685 in the Philippines.
This study investigates various topics, such as recruitment related to human resources, such as compensation, leave rights, overall benefits, and applicable working conditions.
One of the survey results in terms of recruitment, in 2023, as many as 96% of companies recruited at least one employee throughout the year, an increase of 7% from 89% in 2022. Full-time permanent employees represent the largest segment of this growth, accounting for 87% of new employees.
On the contrary, 24% of companies reduced the number of employees they hired in 2023. The most significant reduction occurred in Indonesia and the Philippines.
"In most countries, permanent full-time employees are the largest segment of employees who are terminated. Contract/temporary full-time employees and permanent full-time employees closely follow at a rate of 12%."
Meanwhile, for the reduction of full-time permanent or permanent employee recruitment, Indonesia occupies the first position reaching 16%, followed by the Philippines 15%, then Thailand 13%, Singapore 12%, and Malaysia 11%. Indonesia becomes the country that reduces the most employees in all categories in 2023. Here are the details:
