Dream - The Ministry of Religious Affairs (Kemenag) provides life insurance to Indonesian Hajj pilgrims departing this year. The amount of life insurance provided is equal to the Regular Hajj Implementation Cost (Bipih) per embarkation.

The Director of Domestic Hajj Services at the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Saiful Mujab, said that insurance protection is provided from the moment pilgrims enter the Hajj dormitory until their return.

"So the insurance coverage starts from entering the hajj dormitory, embarkation until returning," said Saiful, quoted from merdeka.com, Monday, March 25, 2024. The form of insurance provided is not only life protection but also accident protection. For pilgrims who die due to accidents, the insurance provided is twice the regular Bipih per embarkation."

Saiful merinci, for congregants who experience disabilities due to accidents, they will receive insurance ranging from 2.6 percent to 100 percent Bipih.

Meanwhile, for pilgrims who pass away while in the flight area, they will receive an additional amount of up to Rp135 million.

Total number of pilgrims in 2024 is 241,000, consisting of 21,320 regular hajj pilgrims, 27,680 special hajj pilgrims, and 4,200 hajj officers.

"Jemaah Lansia" in English is "Elderly Congregation".

Based on data from the Directorate General of Hajj and Umrah, the total number of elderly (lansia) hajj pilgrims is 10,375 people. Out of that number, there are 55 hajj pilgrims who are between 96-109 years old.

Then the hajj pilgrims aged 86-95 years old recorded a total of 1,885 people. Then the hajj pilgrims aged 76-85 years old amounted to 8,435 people.
