Dream - Chinese company, Betavolt, has just launched the 'BV100' nuclear battery that is smaller than a coin. Interestingly, this battery has a lifespan of about 50 years and does not need to be recharged. With a size of only 15mm x 15mm x 5mm, Betavolt BV100 is said to generate electricity as isotopes decay, unlike conventional batteries that only store energy.
According to the Oddity Central website, this Beijing-based company claims that they are the first to successfully create miniature atomic energy, by incorporating 63 nuclear isotopes into a battery smaller than a coin.
Betavolt also claims that its BV100 battery is very safe for consumers, as it will not leak radiation even if its protective cover is damaged.
The company plans to start mass-producing batteries by the end of 2024 and introduce a more powerful version in 2025. In the future, Betavolt plans to target the aerospace industry, medical equipment, AI devices, small drones, robotics, and almost all industries that require batteries with a lifespan of 50 years.
Betavolt also plans to launch a new 1-watt atomic battery in 2025. With the advancement of technology, in the future it may be possible for smartphone batteries to not require recharging.
write the company on its website.
Currently they are experimenting with isotopes such as strontium-90, promethium-147, and deuterium, and hope to produce batteries with a lifespan of 230 years.
