Dream - During the Lebaran holiday, children have more opportunities to play with friends or siblings. The game can be done both indoors and outdoors. Therefore, parents must prepare protection for their children's skin against the sunlight.
Danger of sun exposure is not only affecting adults. Children's skin, whose protection is not yet optimal, can actually be more sensitive to sun exposure. Protecting children's skin from the dangers of sun exposure is not always difficult. In fact, there are several conditions where children are not recommended to wear sunscreen. Here are tips for protecting children's skin from sun exposure according to Dermatologist, Arthur Simon, on his Instagram.
"Sunscreen, which means sun protection, is not a product. Protection against the sun can be done physically or chemically," said Arthur. Physical protection itself is done by wearing a hat, long-sleeved clothing, and using an umbrella for children when they are active under the sun. There are also strollers for children that can be closed to protect them from sun exposure."
Physical protection is recommended to be done on children aged 0-6 months. This is because children are not recommended to use sunscreen under the age of 6 months.
"When aged 6 months to 2 years, children are advised to use physical sunscreen or physical sunscreen that contains zinc oxide or titanium oxide."
"The strength of baby and child skin is different from adult skin. But if they are already over 2 years old, their skin strength is already similar to adult skin. So they can use any sunscreen. The mother's sunscreen is also allowed," said Arthur. That means you can bring one type of sunscreen if the child is already over 2 years old."
While children under 2 years old or 6 months old have very sensitive skin that is prone to irritation, do not apply skincare products to babies indiscriminately, even if they are claimed to be gentle for all types of adult skin. Moreover, especially if the skincare used contains certain active ingredients.
"Now, there are quite a lot of skincare products specifically for children and babies with age information on their packaging, making it easier for you to choose safe and age-appropriate skincare for your little one."
Don't forget to pay attention to the condition and response of your child's skin when using certain skincare products. Consult with a dermatologist if your child experiences rashes, allergies, or redness of the skin during activities under the sun or after using specific skincare products.
Before taking your little one to go home for the holidays, it is important for parents to pay attention to their health.
