Dream - Islam has regulations for its followers regarding what foods and drinks are permissible or not permissible to consume. This is related to the halal (permissible) and haram (forbidden) status of the food. One of the foods that is forbidden for Muslims to consume is blood. This is in accordance with His decree in Surah Al-Maidah, verse 3: "Forbidden to you (for food) are dead animals, blood..." Through the aforementioned verse, it is clear that blood is indeed forbidden for Muslims to consume, whether it is raw or cooked.
"To find out the explanation why blood is prohibited to be consumed by Muslims, here is as summarized by Dream through various sources."
Islam clearly commands its followers to consume halal food. It is not only about the ingredients, but the halalness of the food consumed by Muslims should also be considered in terms of how it is prepared and processed.
In addition to being halal, the food that our Dream friends consume must also be thoyib or good. By doing so, there will be no negative impact on the body. Because by consuming halal and thoyib food, God willing, there will be blessings from Allah SWT in it. Some animal food ingredients that are halal in Islam, for example, are beef, fish, goat, chicken, and lamb. Allah SWT says in Surah Al-Baqarah verse 172:
"O believers, eat from the good and lawful provisions which We have provided for you, and be grateful to Allah if it is Him alone that you worship." (Quran, Al-Baqarah: 172) Additionally, there is a hadith of the Prophet that explains the prohibition of consuming unlawful food. "Every body that is nourished by what is unlawful, the fire of Hell is more deserving of it (to burn it)." (Hadith, At-Thabrani)
Islam has regulated what foods are prohibited or not allowed to be consumed. These prohibited foods are categorized into several types.
There are haram foods that come from animals, where the animals live on land and water, pork meat and fat, and haram foods that come from carcasses, to animal hair. Well, for Dream friends who like South Korean culture or enjoy watching Korean dramas, they must be familiar with the foods they often consume. One of them is a food called Sundae which is made from cow or pig intestines that resemble sausages. The intestines are then filled with noodles, barley, spring onions, spices, and blood.
All types of food that contain blood, even if they are cooked, are still considered forbidden for consumption by Muslims. In Surah Al-Maidah verse 3, the blood that is forbidden to consume is the blood of animals that is still flowing. Not only pigs, but also cows, goats, and chickens are included.
Friends of Dream also need to know that there are exceptions for Muslims regarding the consumption of animal blood. In this case, it is the blood of animals that do not flow.
For example, the liver or spleen of an animal. These parts of the animal's organs are classified as blood, but they are halal to consume because the blood does not flow. By consuming halal food, both in terms of ingredients and how to find them, God willing, it will have a positive impact on our lives. Allah SWT says in Surah An-Nahl verse 114: "So eat of that [meat] upon which the name of Allah has been mentioned, if you are believers in His verses."
