"Dream - Starting from February 14th, foreign tourists who visit Bali will be charged a tax of Rp150,000 per person. However, not all foreign tourists will be subject to this tourist tax. The Bali Provincial Government has announced seven categories of foreign nationals (WNA) that are exempt from the foreign tourist levy."
"They are required to submit an application by completing the requirements specified in the Love Bali system," said Head of Tourism Marketing Division of Bali Tourism Office, Ida Ayu Indah Yustikarini, quoted from Liputan6.com, Friday, February 9, 2024."
The following are 7 categories of foreign nationals (WNA) that are exempt from tourist taxes: 1. Holders of diplomatic and official visas 2. Transportation crew/transportation equipment 3. Holders of temporary residence permits (KITAS) or permanent residence permits (KITAP)

Referring to Bali Governor Regulation (Pergub) Number 36 of 2023 regarding the Payment Procedure for Foreign Tourists, it is stated in Article 7 paragraph 1 that the request for exemption from the obligation to pay mandatory fees must be submitted at least one month before arriving in Bali. The provision also stipulates that the regional apparatus responsible for tourism affairs must verify and make a decision on the request within a maximum of five working days.
The decision is in the form of approval or rejection conveyed to foreign tourists through the Love Bali system. "If approved, the Love Bali system will provide notification and proof of exception approval to foreign tourists in the form of a digital QR code proof," said Ida.
"For the initial stage, the imposition of the levy only applies at the international arrival terminal at Ngurah Rai Airport and Benoa Port. In addition to these two locations, the payment of tourist tax in Bali can also be conducted through travel agents, both online or conventional, hotels, and tourist destinations."
The tax collection for foreign tourists in Bali is regulated in Law Number 15 of 2023 concerning the Province of Bali, and its derivative regulation, namely Regional Regulation Number 6 of 2023 concerning Levies for Foreign Tourists for the Protection of Balinese Culture and Natural Environment.
