Dream - The Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) through the Directorate General of Land Transportation speaks up after the telolet horn of Sinar Dempo Bus claims the life of a young child at the Merak Crossing Port.
The National Transportation Safety Committee (NTSC) states that the use of telolet horns can cause a depletion of air or wind supply, which can impact the optimal functioning of vehicle brakes.
Regarding the use of this horn, the Ministry of Transportation ensures that there are rules that must be followed, namely Government Regulation Number 55 of 2012 concerning Vehicles.
Fine Rp500 Thousand
The provision regulates that buses are prohibited from using telolet horns, and if buses violate this rule, they will be subject to a fine of Rp500,000.
"In article 69, it is stated that the horn sound must be at least 83 decibels or at most 118 decibels, and if violated, a fine penalty of Rp 500,000 will be imposed."

In this case, the Directorate General of Land Transportation will continue to remind all bus operators not to comply with the desires of the community, especially children, to install and honk the telolet horn because it is dangerous and potentially causes accidents on the road.
