Dream - The Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) officially revokes the status of 17 international airports in Indonesia. This determination is stated in Ministerial Decree Number 31/2024 (KM 31/2004) regarding the Designation of International Airports on April 2, 2024.
The spokesperson of the Ministry of Transportation, Adita Irawati, stated that the general purpose of this determination is to be able to encourage the national aviation sector which has been struggling during the Covid-19 pandemic.
"\u201cKM 31\/2004 was issued with the aim of protecting international flights post-pandemic by making airports a hub (feeder) for international flights in the country," said Adita, as quoted from Liputan6.com, Friday, April 26, 2024. So far, Adita explained, most international airports only serve international flights to certain countries and are not long-haul flights. This condition has caused airports in Indonesia to be enjoyed as international hubs by other countries."
