Dream - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) mentioned the trend of Indonesian citizens (WNI) choosing to seek medical treatment at several hospitals abroad. He stated that this habit has caused the country to suffer trillions of rupiah in losses.

The statement was made by President Jokowi during a speech at the opening of the National Health Work Meeting (Rakerkesnas) 2024 at the Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE) Bumi Serpong Damai (BSD), South Tangerang, Banten.
"This is what I repeatedly convey, more than one million of our people seek medical treatment abroad, in Malaysia, Singapore, Japan, Korea, Europe, America, and we lose US$11.5 billion. If converted to Indonesian Rupiah, that's 180 trillion lost."

Jokowi encourages relevant parties to investigate the reasons why Indonesian people do not want to seek medical treatment domestically. Every issue that poses a constraint is instructed by the president to be resolved immediately.
