Dream - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) stated that the increase in rice prices not only occurs in Indonesia, but also affects the whole world. He said that climate change has caused several countries, including Indonesia, to experience crop failure. This condition has resulted in a shortage of rice supply, while the demand for rice consumption is very high, ultimately causing rice prices to rise.

"There is climate change, some harvests fail due to climate change, rain is too heavy, drought is too long," said Jokowi when delivering food aid in Padang Lawas Regency, North Sumatra, on Friday, March 15, 2024. "Many countries are also experiencing the same as us, failed harvests, so because the supply is limited, those who eat still remain or increase, causing the prices to rise," he added.

"So, all of you, this rice is given to you, Mr. and Mrs., because the price of rice has increased," he said. Jokowi ensures that the attending community has received the food assistance provided by the government. According to him, the assistance will continue if the State Budget (APBN) is sufficient."

"Later, if our state budget allows for this allocation, it will be continued, but the government's promise is only until June," said Jokowi. Previously, Jokowi stated that the price of rice has started to decrease in several regions and it will decrease significantly after the harvest festival."
