Dream - Some young people in South Korea are so isolated from the outside world. This prompted the South Korean government to offer them monthly incentives to socialize more. The local Ministry of Gender Equality and Family provides up to US$500 or around Rp7.7 million per month to the 'isolated' individuals. This is done to support healthy psychological and emotional stability.

Various factors are estimated to be the causes, such as financial difficulties, mental illness, family problems, or health challenges. Monthly allowances will be available for 'isolated' individuals aged 9 to 24 who live in families with below-average national income.

"The ministry said, 'Closed teenagers may experience slower physical growth due to an irregular lifestyle and imbalanced nutrition, and tend to face mental difficulties such as depression due to loss of social roles and delayed adaptation.'"

This report also details several case studies, including a young student who suffers from mental health issues and has had difficulties socializing since adolescence. They struggle to adjust to college and eventually choose not to attend classes, withdrawing further into themselves.

This report also details future plans for further actions, such as distributing guidelines to local governments, enhancing social safety nets for young people and early detection systems, and working closely with youth welfare facilities such as shelters or rehabilitation centers.
