Dream - Hundreds of Indonesian pilgrims died during the 2024 Hajj operation. As of the 48th day of the Hajj operation, which was on Friday, June 28, 2024, the total number of Indonesian pilgrims who died in the Holy Land reached 309 people. This figure is based on data uploaded on the Integrated Hajj Information and Computerization System (Siskohat) website of the Ministry of Religious Affairs (Kemenag).
"As for the 309 Indonesian hajj pilgrims, they passed away in five regions of Saudi Arabia, namely Madinah, Jeddah, Mekah, Arafah, and Mina. The majority of these death cases involved elderly hajj pilgrims. The oldest pilgrim who passed away in the Holy Land was 96 years old. Meanwhile, the youngest pilgrim was 31 years old."
Almost all of the hajj pilgrims who died in the Holy Land are included in the high-risk health category (risti). Only 22 pilgrims are recorded as not being included in the risti category.
While based on categories, this death case is dominated by regular hajj pilgrims. Only 14 special hajj pilgrims out of a total of 309 pilgrims died in the Holy Land. However, the trend of death cases among Indonesian hajj pilgrims in the Holy Land is decreasing compared to last year. This can be seen from the table comparing death cases from year to year displayed on the Ministry of Religious Affairs' Siskohat page.
Comparison until the 47th day of hajj operation, last year the number of pilgrims who died in the Holy Land reached 546 people. Meanwhile, during the same period in 2024, the number of pilgrims who died during hajj amounted to 309 people.
