Dream - As many as 1,081 hajj pilgrims from various countries have passed away. Out of that number, there are 200 pilgrims who have passed away, according to data from the Ministry of Religious Affairs on Friday, June 21, 2024.

Hot weather in Saudi Arabia, with temperatures reaching up to 51.8 degrees Celsius, is believed to be the main factor behind the high death toll. Despite warnings from the Saudi Ministry of Health to avoid heat exposure and to drink plenty of water, many pilgrims have fallen victim to heatstroke.

According to several reports, mismanagement by the Saudi government has worsened the situation. As a result, a crisis has occurred in many areas designated for Hajj pilgrims. They say that accommodation and facilities are not well-managed, overcrowded tents lack cooling facilities and adequate sanitation.
