Dream - The Ministry of Religious Affairs (Kemenag) has released batik uniforms for hajj pilgrims. Kemenag Secretary General Ali Ramdhani mentioned that the replacement of batik uniforms for hajj pilgrims was done after 12 years without being changed.
"This is also a new breakthrough after 12 years of the hajj batik never changing,"
According to Ali, as quoted from merdeka.com, Monday, April 29, 2024.
"Ali explained that the design of Indonesian hajj batik this time comes from the Hajj Batik Design Competition in 2023. Through this new design, it is expected to reflect the identity of the Indonesian nation to the world."

"We hope that this batik uniform better reflects the identity of Indonesia and is easily recognizable by pilgrims from various countries around the world," he said. Director General of Hajj and Umrah Organizers, Hilman Latief, revealed that the procurement of pilgrim uniforms has involved small and medium enterprises (UMKM) located in various regions of Indonesia."
Every hajj pilgrim needs 3 meters of batik fabric for their uniform. So, with a total of 241,000 hajj pilgrims, 700 kilometers of batik fabric is needed. "So, around 700 km in quantity if it is spread out and we involve many SMEs to make it," said Hilman. He added that the batik uniforms will be produced using the stamp method and involving many SMEs that meet the required standards set by the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
Hilman explained, the new color of batik for Indonesian Hajj pilgrims is purple with the motif of Sekar Arum Sari. Inspired by the white jasmine, kawung motif, truntum motif, songket motif, and woven fabric, as well as the garuda bird.
This motif takes the philosophy of Indonesia's national flower, the white jasmine, which symbolizes purity, grandeur, simplicity, sincerity, beauty, and humility.
