Dream - Before departing for the Hajj, prospective Indonesian Hajj pilgrims usually hold a farewell ceremony called walimatus safar haji. In this event, a collective prayer is performed and farewells are said to the family members left behind in the holy land. The farewell prayer for the Hajj is practiced before departure to seek blessings for the pilgrim's Hajj journey. InshaAllah, their pilgrimage will be smooth and easy until they safely return to their homeland and become a blessed Hajj pilgrim. This farewell prayer for the Hajj was taught by Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) when one of his companions was about to embark on a long journey.

May Allah bless you with piety, forgive your sins, and make it easy for you to do good wherever you are. This prayer is narrated by Imam At-Tirmidzi from the companion Anas ra: "It was narrated to us in the Book of At-Tirmidzi, from the companion Anas RA. He told a story of someone who came to the Prophet Muhammad SAW."

"Dear Messenger, I want to travel. Therefore, give me provisions," said the companion. "May Allah increase your provision and piety," said the Messenger of Allah. "Add more, O Messenger," said the companion. "And forgive your sins," said the Messenger of Allah. "Add more, O Messenger," said the companion. "And make it easy for you wherever you are," answered the Messenger of Allah. Imam At-Tirmidhi said that the quality of this hadith is good," (See Imam An-Nawawi, Al-Adhkar, [Damascus: Darul Mallah, 1971 M/1391 H], page 187)."

The first practice is repentance, which means seeking forgiveness for all sins and mistakes that have been committed up until now. This is intended so that later on, the congregation can be more focused in performing the Hajj pilgrimage in the holy land.

The next practice before departing for Hajj is to pay off debts and give alms. The debt must be returned to the rightful person. In addition, prospective Hajj pilgrims are also encouraged to bring lawful wealth as provisions for the journey. In this regard, it is important to consider the wealth used to perform the Hajj pilgrimage.

The next practice before departing for Hajj is to perform two rak'ahs of prayer. This prayer is similar to other optional two rak'ahs prayers. However, in the second rak'ah, it is recommended to recite Surah Al-Kafirun after reciting Surah Al-Fatihah. After completing the two rak'ahs prayer, continue by reciting Ayatul Kursi and Surah Quraysh. Then, recite a special prayer, which is to ask for ease and entrust all things left behind during the performance of the Hajj pilgrimage.

Before departure and during the journey, it is recommended to pray. This prayer is to ask for ease and be given strength during the journey to the Holy Land. God willing, through this prayer, protection and safety will be granted by Allah SWT. While on the journey, prospective Hajj pilgrims are encouraged to recite the following tasbih more frequently:

Subhanallahu walhamdulillah walaailahaillah waallahu akbar. Meaning: "Glory be to Allah, all praise is for Allah, there is no god but Allah, and Allah is the Greatest."

When you have arrived in the Holy Land, prospective hajj pilgrims should perform two units of prayer. This prayer is the same as the prayer before departure. After performing the two units of prayer, continue by reciting prayers and expressing gratitude to Allah SWT for being protected during the journey to the Holy Land of Mecca.
