Dream - The journey of Hajj or Umrah requires a prime physical condition. Especially when we are in a country with a different climate than Indonesia. It is not uncommon to hear pilgrims dying while performing their worship in the Holy Land. Generally, the majority of Umrah or Hajj pilgrims who pass away are rarely buried in their home country. Most of their bodies will be buried in Mecca. Abdul Hafiz, a member of the Surveillance Team of the Saudi Arabian Hajj Organizers in the field of health, said it is difficult for Hajj pilgrims who die in Saudi Arabia to be brought back to Indonesia. One of the reasons is that the Saudi Arabian Government does not allow the bodies to be brought back to their country.
The provision makes it rare for many Indonesian Hajj pilgrims who die in Mecca to have their bodies brought back to Indonesia for burial. One exception is the burial of Bung Tomo's body in Tanah Aur, as requested by the family.
Besides the rules from the local government, many Indonesians also hope to pass away and be buried in the Holy Land. Many believe there is a virtue in passing away in Mecca.
"Perhaps some of Dream's friends are wondering about the management of the deceased in Mecca. Meanwhile, the family themselves are not in one of the Holy Cities of Allah SWT."
Quoted from NU Online, Saudi Arabia has an office that is responsible for managing the preparation of services for Hajj pilgrims called maktab or markaz. This includes pilgrims from Indonesia. The bodies of Hajj pilgrims will be taken care of after the maktab receives the Certificate of Death (COD) or death certificate from Indonesian medical personnel. So, the families who are in the homeland do not need to worry about the management of the bodies of their deceased family members in Mecca. Because their bodies will be taken care of as best as possible in accordance with Islamic law.
"The person who dies while performing the Hajj pilgrimage has a special virtue. Here are some of the virtues that Dream friends need to know:"
"The virtue of dying in Makkah during Hajj is being resurrected when reciting talbiyah on the Day of Judgment. In a narration from Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him), he said: 'When a person stood with the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) in Arafah, suddenly he fell from his mount and his mount trampled on his head.' Then, the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: '
"Bathe him with water and sidr leaves (jujube), shroud him with his clothes, and do not cover his head, and do not apply perfume. For indeed, he will be resurrected on the Day of Judgment while reciting the talbiyah." (Muttafaq Alaih)
"Passing away in Mecca while performing the Hajj pilgrimage will also guarantee entry into paradise, even without undergoing the reckoning process. The Prophet Muhammad said: 'Whoever leaves their home to perform Hajj or Umrah, but is destined to pass away during the journey, will be rewarded as if they had completed the Hajj or Umrah until the Day of Resurrection. And for those who pass away in one of the sacred lands (the Holy Land of Mecca or Medina), they will not be reckoned or held accountable for their deeds, and it will be said to them, 'Enter paradise.'' (HR. Al-Baihaqi)"
The death of someone in Mecca while performing the Hajj pilgrimage, their good deeds will continue until the end of time. The Prophet Muhammad said: 'Whoever dies after performing the Hajj pilgrimage, will receive the reward of Hajj until the Day of Judgment. And whoever dies after performing the Umrah pilgrimage, will receive the reward of Umrah until the Day of Judgment. And whoever dies after participating in a battle, will receive the reward of a warrior until the Day of Judgment.' (HR. Thabrani)
According to Tawfiq, this policy is implemented to ensure the safety of the pilgrims during Hajj.
