As one of the pillars of Islam, the pilgrimage is an obligation for every Muslim who is capable of performing it. This story is conveyed by Abdullah bin al-Mubarak al-Hanzhali al-Marwazi. He is a famous hadith scholar from Khurasan. He is also a successful entrepreneur who often performs the pilgrimage and jihad in the way of Allah SWT.

Ia also left for Mecca with the intention of performing the Hajj as best as possible. After performing the Hajj, he dreamt of seeing two angels descending from the sky and the creatures of Allah SWT conversing with each other. Abdullah eavesdropped on the conversation between the two angels. "How many people have performed the Hajj this year?" asked one of the angels. "Six hundred thousand," answered one of the angels. "How many of them have their Hajj accepted?" asked the previous angel.

"There is nothing accepted," replied one of the angels. Hearing the conversation, Abdullah's body trembled and he cried. He thought, "Everyone here has come from all corners of the earth. With great difficulty and exhaustion, is it all in vain?"

"Except for only a shoemaker in Damascus named Ali bin Muwaffaq. He did not come to perform the Hajj, but his Hajj was accepted and all of his sins were forgiven. In fact, it is thanks to him that all of the Hajj pilgrims were accepted by Allah SWT." Hearing this conversation, Abdullah Ibnu Mubarak, who was sleeping, suddenly woke up. He decided to immediately go to Damascus with the aim of meeting Ali bin Muwaffaq after completing the Hajj. Abdullah managed to find Muwaffaq at his house in Damascus. "

After exchanging greetings, the door of his house was opened and Abdullah told about his dream. Muwaffaq immediately cried and fainted. After regaining consciousness, Muwaffaq told about his pilgrimage. That for 40 years he had a desire to perform the Hajj pilgrimage. He even managed to sell his shoes and collected a total of 350 dirhams. However, at that time his pregnant wife smelled the neighbor's cooking and wanted to taste the dish. Muwaffaq then went to his neighbor's house and stated the purpose of his visit.

His neighbor was crying because his child had not eaten for three days. He saw a dead donkey and cut it up to cook it. "My child has not eaten anything for three days. Today I saw a dead donkey lying there and cut it up to cook it for them. This is not halal food for you," explained Muwaffaq's neighbor. Muwaffaq was sad and decided to give his savings for Hajj to the neighbor in need. "Use this money for your child," Muwaffaq said to his neighbor, while thinking to himself, "This is my Hajj."

After listening to Muwaffaq's explanation, Abdullah said: "The angels spoke clearly in my dream and the Ruler of the Kingdom of Heaven's decision is true." Through this story, it contains extraordinary wisdom for Muslims, especially for those who intend to perform the Hajj pilgrimage. Namely, to pay attention to the fate of their neighbors first. Whether their neighbors' lives have been sufficient or not when they are about to go for Hajj. Because helping neighbors in difficulty is a more virtuous deed.
