The Central Java Provincial Health Office is going to hold the Sub National Immunization Week (Sub PIN) Polio starting from January 15, 2024, to prevent the occurrence of polio. Irma Makiah, the Head of the Disease Prevention and Control Division of the Central Java Health Office, stated that surveillance examinations had been conducted prior to the Sub PIN Polio.

"To prevent the spread of polio, the Sub PIN polio will be conducted in 35 districts/cities in Central Java. Collaborating with the District/City Health Office, the immunization target is children aged zero to 7 years, regardless of their previous vaccination status," said Irma."

Children can get the Polio vaccine at Puskesmas (Community Health Center), Posyandu (Integrated Health Post), Kindergarten/Early Childhood Education, Elementary School, and other Immunization Posts.

The local Health Department is giving special attention to the child. Irma also advised the public not to panic with the discovery of polio cases. The most important thing is to practice good sanitation, especially not to defecate indiscriminately. This behavior can easily transmit the Polio virus through feces.

"To the public, do not panic. However, it is necessary to continue implementing a clean and healthy lifestyle (PHBS). Do not defecate carelessly, wash hands before eating, and get polio immunization. The government provides complete basic immunization for free," said Irma."
