Dream - As many as 67% of the Indonesian population have planned for year-end holiday travels in 2023. This is evident in the annual report titled "End of Year Vacation Plan Report 2023" released by research company Populix. The research was conducted from November 21st to 28th, 2023, using a quantitative approach through an online survey on the Populix application, with a total of 1,058 male and female respondents aged 17 to 55 years old in Indonesia.
Eileen Kamtawijoyo, Co-Founder and COO of Populix, said that the majority of respondents chose Bali, Bandung, and Yogyakarta as their year-end travel destinations.

"For this year-end trip, airplanes (39%) were chosen as the majority respondents' transportation mode, followed by private cars (32%), trains (23%), private motorcycles (22%), as well as various other transportation modes."

On average, respondents have a budget of around Rp5 million for vacation. Respondents' enthusiasm for domestic destinations is still high, with Bali (28%), Yogyakarta (28%), and Bandung (26%) being the favorite cities for tourism.
Meanwhile, Japan (22%) occupies the most sought-after foreign destination by Indonesian tourists, followed by Singapore (18%), South Korea (14%), Malaysia (11%), and Thailand (10%).
"On the other hand, budget constraints pose a significant challenge for 16% of respondents who do not have year-end vacation plans. Nevertheless, they still have plans to make the most of their year-end momentum, such as exploring local attractions (28%)."
Holding a year-end celebration party at home (28%), going out for culinary adventures (16%), worshiping at home (12%), visiting public worship services (8%), staycation (8%), or simply enjoying quality time at home (18%). Meanwhile, 24% of respondents plan to work as usual.
