Dream - Ahead of Eid al-Fitr or Idul Fitri, the Indonesian people will flock to return to their respective hometowns. In addition to preparing tickets, there are things that need to be considered when traveling using public transportation such as trains, ships, and airplanes. One of them is the maximum baggage limit.
Not only airplanes have maximum baggage rules. In order to avoid additional baggage fees, first find out the maximum baggage limits for each mode of transportation:
According to Merdeka.com, PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia (Pelni Persero) as a sea vessel operator provides a maximum limit for the baggage that passengers are allowed to bring. On PT Pelni's ferry, the maximum limit for baggage is 40 kg with dimensions of 70x40x35 cm.
All airlines agree, the maximum baggage limit that can enter the cabin is 7 Kg with the largest dimensions of 58x46x23 cm, which are adjusted to the head rack.
If the weight or dimensions of the baggage cannot fit in the cabin, the items can be placed as checked baggage. Checked baggage consists of weighed and brought items to the baggage or cargo compartment of the aircraft. These items cannot be accessed by passengers during the flight. Checked baggage is marked with a special baggage label indicating the arrival terminal and baggage serial number.
The luggage tag will be attached to the passenger's boarding pass for identification purposes and must be presented to the officers at the arrival terminal.
Every airline has different regulations regarding the maximum limit of checked baggage. However, for domestic flights, the maximum limit of checked baggage generally does not exceed 32 kg.
KAI as a railway operator allows every passenger to bring luggage onto the train with a maximum weight of 20 kg and maximum dimensions of 70 cm x 48 cm x 30 cm.
If passengers bring items that exceed the weight and size as regulated, those items are allowed to be carried on the train with an excess baggage fee.
The rates for excess baggage weight are as follows: Executive class train: Rp10,000/kg Business class train: Rp6,000/kg Economy class train: Rp2,000/kg If the luggage weighs more than 40 kg or has a volume of more than 200 dm3 (70 cm x 48 cm x 60 cm), it is not allowed to be brought into the train cabin and it is recommended to use the delivery service provided by one of KAI's subsidiaries, namely KAI Logistics.
