Recorded, current tax revenue only reached 11 percent. Meanwhile, the new order reached 14 percent.

"New Order used to have 14 percent, why has it decreased now? They said New Order was bad?""

Prabowo's words at the PAN bukber event were quoted from Liputan6.com, Friday, March 22, 2024.

Prabowo compares Indonesia to Southeast Asian countries (ASEAN) such as Thailand, Malaysia, and Cambodia, whose tax revenues are higher.

"The current tax revenue is only 11 percent of our GDP," said the Minister of Defense. "During the New Order, it was 14 percent. Now, if I'm not mistaken, Thailand is already at 16 percent, Malaysia is around 15 percent, and Cambodia might be higher," he added.

Prabowo cannot understand why Indonesia's tax revenue can be lower. According to him, he believes that the Indonesian nation is no less great than other countries.

"What's the difference? Same skin, same hair color, so what's the deal. Are we dumber than Malaysians?" he said. "Are we dumber than Thais, are we dumber or are we lazier, or what else?" Prabowo expressed.
