Dream - Deputy Minister of State-Owned Enterprises, Kartika Wirjoatmodjo, said that PT Bank Syariah Indonesia Tbk (BSI) has served more than 20 million customers. This number makes BSI the largest sharia bank in the world.

Wamen BUMN, added that the achievement was successfully achieved in just 3 years. BSI recorded to have gathered more than 6 million customers since the merger in 2021.

The other achievement obtained by this state-owned bank is that BSI is included in the top 10 largest Islamic banks in the world. BSI ranks 10th in the list of the largest Islamic banks based on market capitalization.

Wamen added, in terms of financial performance, BSI is the only Sharia Bank among the Top 5 Banks in Indonesia with a total asset of Rp353.4 Trillion and a net profit of Rp5.7 Trillion in 2023.

BSI is also the largest contributor of zakat in Indonesia, amounting to Rp222 billion in 2023 and targeted to continue increasing every year.

In terms of expansion, BSI has opened operational branches in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, and is currently in the process of opening branches in Saudi Arabia and continuously developing the potential of the Islamic ecosystem, especially in the hajj and umrah business.
