Dream - Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (Menko PMK) Muhadjir Effendy visited the facilities prepared by the Hajj Service Officers (PPIH) of Saudi Arabia in Mecca. This was done in anticipation of the arrival of Hajj pilgrims from Medina and the homeland.

Muhadjir conveyed, the health sector is a concern because based on the evaluation presented in the limited cabinet meeting, the President provided special notes. "The President gave special notes on health services considering the mortality rate or death of pilgrims last year experienced a significant increase," said Muhadjir.

As for this year, Indonesia has received a quota of 241,000, consisting of 213,320 regular pilgrims and 27,680 special pilgrims. Around 45 thousand of them are elderly pilgrims. The pilgrims' medical records will be recorded in the application so that they can be continuously monitored.

The health condition of the congregation will be connected between the Ministry of Religious Affairs and the Ministry of Health applications. Information containing personal history, medical conditions, and so on can be accessed by officers. "So it can be ensured that the congregation entering the hotel will continue to be monitored for their health," he continued.

In Mecca, there are 170 hotels prepared by the Saudi Arabian PPIH to serve as accommodations for Hajj pilgrims. Each accommodation will provide various elderly-friendly facilities, religious guidance, and special healthcare personnel.

"Previously, the Head of the Regional Work Area (Kadaker) Madinah Ali Machzum released the departure of the first batch of hajj pilgrims from Jakarta-Pondok Gede embarkation (JKG-01) to Mecca Al-Mukarramah on Monday, May 20, 2024, at 06.00 Saudi Arabian Time (WAS). They first stopped at Masjid Bir Ali or Dzulhulaifah for approximately 30 minutes to perform the miqat (mandatory umrah intention)."
