Dream - Garut pilgrim, Upan Supian (71) passed away after performing the Asr prayer at the Nabawi Mosque on Monday, May 13, 2024. Upan was a pilgrim from the JKS 2 Jakarta-Bekasi Embarkation Group. Before his passing, Upan departed from the Abraj Tabah Hotel to the Nabawi Mosque on Monday, May 13, 2024 at 15.00 Saudi Arabian Time (SAT). After the prayer, around 16.45 SAT, Upan fell at gate 4 of the Nabawi Mosque.
"The next patient was evacuated by officers to the Emergency Center located near Masjid Nabawi. Around 17.27 WAS, the emergency center doctor declared that the pilgrim had passed away, allegedly due to a heart attack."
Head of the Madinah Work Area (Daker), Ali Machzumi, stated that Upan Supian will be buried in the Baqi cemetery located to the east of the Nabawi Mosque. "I have just signed the permit letter for the burial of the deceased," said Ali Machzumi, Head of the Madinah Work Area, PPIH Saudi Arabia quoted from Merdeka.com, Tuesday, May 14, 2024.
Upan along with the JKS 2 group departed from Soekarno-Hatta Airport at 06.05 WIB using Saudia Airlines SV 5219. The group arrived at Amir Mohammad bin Abdulazis Airport, Madinah, at 11.35 WAS.

Judging from the time of arrival since landing at AMMA Airport, the deceased had only been in the Holy City for about 30 hours to perform the Hajj pilgrimage."
Head of the Worship Guidance Section of the Special Sector of the Nabawi Mosque, Syahro Marwan, stated that hajj pilgrims who pass away before the peak of the hajj will be replaced by the government.

PPIH Saudi Arabia will collect data on the number of Hajj pilgrims who have passed away before the implementation of the wukuf (standing at Mount Arafat). After the data is gathered, the Government will find someone who can perform the Hajj on their behalf, without any charges or fees.
