Resky tells that his father registered for regular Hajj 10 years ago. However, before receiving a call from the waiting list, his father passed away.
From the family agreement, he was entrusted to replace his father in performing the Hajj pilgrimage. According to him, his father and mother were supposed to depart for Hajj in 2020. However, the departure of both his parents had to be postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
"So, Father had been waiting for approximately 10 years, which should have started in 2020 but due to the Covid-19 pandemic, it was postponed," explained this young girl from Makassar City."
Resky, who is part of Group 1 from Makassar Embarkation, is scheduled to depart for the Holy Land with his mother and other pilgrims at 16:30 WITA from Sultan Hasanuddin International Airport. For your information, the first group of prospective pilgrims from Jakarta-Pondok Gede Embarkation (JKG 01) arrived at Amir Muhammad bin Abdul Aziz Airport (AMAA), Madinah, on Sunday, May 12, 2024 at 08:00 Saudi Arabian Time.
The first group consists of 393 people, with 79 elderly (lansia) members and 13 people using wheelchairs.
The arrival of the prospective hajj pilgrims was welcomed by the Indonesian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Abdul Aziz Ahmad, the Hajj Consul Nasrullah Jasam, and the Head of the Working Area of the Airport Hajj Organizer Officials (PPIH), Abdillah.
Abdul Aziz and other officials welcomed the Indonesian hajj pilgrims and presented a bouquet of flowers to each participant. The hajj officers also greeted them promptly and assisted the pilgrims. Some even escorted the pilgrims to the bus, provided shelter, and pushed wheelchairs.
