For some people who are fasting, there is another enemy that often lurks, which is drowsiness during the day. Yup! This drowsiness often appears as an uninvited guest that disrupts productivity and enthusiasm in going through the day. It cannot be denied, maintaining stamina and enthusiasm during fasting is not an easy matter. Coupled with drowsiness, it makes some people feel that the fasting challenge becomes heavier. But, don't worry! You can anticipate or eliminate drowsiness with the 6 methods below:  

               

Increase Drinking Water During Sahur and Iftar

During fasting, the body loses fluids throughout the day without food and drink intake. Therefore, it is important to ensure that the body remains well hydrated. One way to do this is by increasing the consumption of plain water during pre-dawn meal (sahur). Drinking plain water during sahur can help maintain the body's fluid balance and prevent dehydration, which can cause drowsiness during the day.

"Light Exercise"

Sports can help you ward off drowsiness, you know! You don't need intense exercise, you can start with a leisurely walk around the housing complex or the nearest park. If you're feeling lazy to go out, no problem! You can do stretching exercises at home. Just find a comfortable place and start with simple movements. Stretching your muscles can help relieve stress and make you relax. This light physical activity can improve blood circulation and give you extra energy without feeling sleepy.

Make sure to get enough sleep.

Can't be denied, the month of Ramadan often reduces the quality of sleep. However, even though you have to wake up earlier for sahur, make sure your sleep quality remains maintained. Because ideally, nighttime sleep is 7-8 hours. Well, by maintaining enough sleep time, you will feel more refreshed, ready to face the days during Ramadan with full enthusiasm and without drowsiness.

Turning on the Lights in the Room

Nah, this is often forgotten and considered trivial. The brightness of the lights in the room can affect your level of drowsiness and enthusiasm during fasting. Therefore, it is important to ensure that the room you occupy has sufficient bright lighting to ward off drowsiness and maintain enthusiasm during fasting. You can use lamps with the appropriate wattage for the size of the room. If possible, also utilize natural light from windows to provide additional lighting in the room.

During fasting, it is best to make use of spare time by engaging in activities that are not only enjoyable but also beneficial. This is a golden opportunity to do things that you may not have time for in your daily busyness. For example, you can read your favorite novel, write a journal, play music, or engage in beneficial social activities such as participating in fundraising. By having beneficial activities, you won't feel sleepy because your time becomes more productive!

Shower and Wash Face with Cold Water

If you feel sleepy, try taking a cold shower or spraying cold water on your face. Taking a cold shower not only cleanses the body from sweat and dust but also has benefits in refreshing the body. Besides taking a shower, spraying cold water on your face can also be an effective alternative to get rid of sleepiness. Spray a little cold water on your face or wash your face with cold water.
