In the 1960s, there was a decrease of about one inch in the average height of American women. Based on the data from the US National Health Survey for the period 1960-1962, women in the United States overall had an average height of around 160 cm. From 1896 to 1996, data analyzed by NCD-RisC showed that the average height of women in Europe and Central Asia increased by 11 centimeters. Experts believe that increased nutrition consumption has played a role in helping individuals reach their maximum height, along with the influence of genetic factors that also affect height.
