He shared his experience in dealing with a teenage client who attempted suicide. One of the triggers was that the teenager felt he no longer had any choices in life.

"Often, clients with a desire to commit suicide (suicide) feel that they have no option but to end their lives. The same goes for those who are anxious and overthinking, even those with a tendency towards depression. It is difficult for them to think of other options for themselves," wrote Vera.

Train Children to Find Options

Vera reminds parents to train their children to make choices for their own lives. This is even highly recommended when the child is still at a young age.

"In preschool age, get used to giving the child two options to choose from. For example, choosing the drawing tool they want to use, choosing between two menus. As they grow older, in school age, help the child understand the rationale behind the options they have," Vera expressed.
