Dream - Recently, Turkish archaeologists claimed that they have discovered the oldest remains of bread in the world. It is called the oldest because the bread found is estimated to date back to 6600 BC.

According to Turkey's Necmettin Erbakan University Science and Technology Research and Application Center (BÄ°TAM), in this area, remnants of houses built from mud bricks were also found. In addition to bread, archaeologists working there also discovered wheat, jam, and lentils. The oldest form of bread initially appeared as round sponge-like remains the size of a palm. When analyzed, these sponge remains turned out to be 8,600-year-old fermented bread.
"We say that the findings on the Çatalhöyük site are the oldest bread in the world," said Ali Umut Türkcan, an archaeologist and professor at Anadolu University."
"Temuan ini adalah versi yang lebih kecil dari sepotong roti. Bagian tengah roti terlihat ditekan dengan jadi dan belum dipanggang, tapi sudah difermentasi dan pati di dalamnya bertahan hingga saat ini," lanjutnya. Sementara itu, Salih Kavak, ahli biologi sekaligus dosen di Universitas Gaziantep Turki menyebutkan bahwa pemindaian dari mikroskop elektron menunjukkan adanya butiran pati di dalam sampel."
"In addition, the chemicals found in the bread indicate a fermentation process. There is a mixture of flour and water, and the bread is prepared next to the oven to be stored for a while. The organic material is then naturally preserved with the help of a thin layer of clay that covers its structure. 'This is an interesting discovery, both for Turkey and for the world,' added Kavak."
Catalhoyuk itself is a UNESCO World Heritage site. During the Neolithic period (10,000 BC to 2000 BC), this site was home to around 8,000 people.
This place is known to be one of the earliest urbanization sites in the world. The housing layout in this site has very distinctive features such as reliefs and wall paintings, and is mentioned as the most significant human settlement that has documented early Neolithic life. Çatalhöyük also became the center of the discovery of various first tools that are very important to world civilization, such as the first loom, the first wooden artifacts, as well as the first known wall paint and paintings in civilization.
