"8 Practices that Should be Done in the Month of Hajj, the Rewards are Multiplied"
The month of Dzulhijjah is one of the sacred months that is recommended to be filled with various acts of goodness.
The month of Dzulhijjah is one of the sacred months that is recommended to be filled with various acts of goodness.
Dream - Dzulhijjah is the season of Hajj. This is the month when Muslims perform the fifth pillar of Islam, which is Hajj. Although Dream's friends are not currently performing the Hajj pilgrimage, there are some recommended deeds to be done during the month of Dzulhijjah. As the Prophet Muhammad said, "There are two months in which the rewards of deeds are not reduced. They are the months of Ramadan and Dzulhijjah." (Narrated by Bukhari and Muslim)
Then, what are the deeds that should be done in this hajj month? Here are some recommended deeds as summarized by Dream through various sources.
"There are several recommended practices in the month of Dzulhijjah with their special virtues. Here are the practices:"
The first recommended practice in the month of Dzulhijjah is fasting on the day of Arafah, which falls on the 9th of Dzulhijjah. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, "Fasting on the day of Arafah (9th Dzulhijjah) can erase the sins of the past year and the coming year. Fasting on the day of Ashura (10th Muharram) can erase the sins of the past year." (Narrated by Muslim)
The next practice that friends of Dream can do during the month of Hajj is to recite takbir, tahlil, and tahmid. Takbir is recited after performing the obligatory prayer in the mosque on the day of Eid al-Adha until the afternoon of the Tashreeq days or during the Asr prayer. Then, when walking to the location to perform the Eid al-Adha prayer, it is recommended to recite: "Allahu akbar, allahu akbar, laa ilaha ilallah, wallahu akbar, allahu akbar wa lillahi hamdu."
In a hadith, it is explained as follows: "There are no days more noble in the sight of Allah, and righteous deeds performed during them are more beloved to Him, than the righteous deeds performed during the first ten days of the month of Dhu al-Hijjah. Therefore, increase in saying tahlil, takbir, and tahmid" (HR.At-Thabrani).
In the month of Dzulhijjah, Muslims will perform the voluntary prayer of Id. As explained in the following hadith: "The Prophet saw commanded women who are secluded (including women who are menstruating) on the day of Eid, to witness the goodness and call of the Muslim community. Then a woman said: 'O Messenger of Allah, what if one of us does not have clothes?' The Prophet said: 'Let her friend give her some of her clothes.'" (HR. Abu Daud)
After performing the Idul Adha prayer, it is followed by carrying out the sacrifice or slaughtering the sacrificial animal on the 10th of Dzulhijjah. In a hadith, it is explained: "There is no deed performed by the children of Adam on the day of sacrifice that is more beloved to Allah 'Azza Wa Jalla than shedding blood. Indeed, on the Day of Judgment, the sacrificial animal will come with its horns, hooves, and fur."
"And indeed, that blood will reach Allah 'Azza Wa Jalla before it falls to the ground, so purify your souls with it." (HR. Ibn Majah, At-Tirmidzi, Al-Hakim)
The next practice, as a way to complete the fifth pillar of Islam, is to perform the pilgrimage (hajj). Although this worship is obligatory, it is only intended for those who are able to do so. Because through this worship, there is a great reward. The Prophet Muhammad said, "Performing Umrah after another Umrah is an expiation for sins committed between them, and a Hajj that is accepted will receive no reward other than Paradise." (Narrated by al-Bukhari and Muslim)
Apart from the Hajj, it is recommended to perform Umrah in the month of Dhu al-Hijjah. This worship also has virtues that will be obtained by those who perform it. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "The performance of Umrah is an expiation for the sins committed between it and the previous one, and an accepted Hajj has no reward other than Paradise." (Narrated by al-Bukhari and Muslim)
In the month of Dzulhijjah, Muslims are encouraged to do good to one another. However, this act should be done at any time, even outside the month of Dzulhijjah. Because doing good to others is one of the teachings in Islam that can create good relationships with others.
Apart from doing good to others, another practice in the month of Dzulhijjah is to give charity to those in need. Charity does not have to be in the form of a large amount of wealth. Just according to the ability of Dream's friends and the most important thing is sincerity. Allah SWT says in Surah Al-Baqarah verse 195: "And spend in the way of Allah and do not throw yourselves into destruction, and do good; indeed, Allah loves the doers of good."
