Dream - Every child must want to realize their parents' dreams, especially if they are elderly. That is also what Sukamti (44) did, who was willing to work abroad for decades to fulfill his father's desire to go on a pilgrimage.
Go on Hajj with Father
The father, Suroso (84), always said that he only had one wish, which was to go on a pilgrimage. Because, besides going to the Holy Land, there was nothing else he hoped for with his condition of being visually impaired since the age of eight.
"For me, the desires of parents and also the desires of my child are a necessity that must be realized,"
Sukamti said in Madinah, quoted from the official website of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Friday, 24th May 2024.

"25 Years Working in Malaysia"
To realize his father's dream, Sukamti worked in Malaysia for 25 years. Part of his income was saved to pay for his father's Hajj Travel Expenses (BPIH). Not only that, he also worked to support his family, including his four siblings. As a single parent since his child was born, Sukamti also had to work hard to finance his only child's education.
"Sukamti is indeed a child who is always devoted and thinking about the family, including all of his siblings who are supported for schooling," whispered Suroso."
According to Suroso, since he was a child, Sukamti always had a strong determination. He was willing to be entrusted to an orphanage just to struggle to get free education from Elementary School (SD) to Mechanical Engineering School (STM) majoring in electricity. Because, with limited conditions, Suroso was not able to earn a living to the fullest. At that time, he only relied on his wife, Mardiyah (75), who had been working in the fields.
"Alhamdulillah this year my intention to perform Hajj has been granted by Allah. I am very happy even though I cannot see the beauty of the Holy Land,""
ucap Suroso.

Currently, Sukamti successfully realizes his blind father's dream to fulfill the fifth pillar of Islam. He and his father are part of the ninth group (kloter) of the Solo Embarkation (SOC 09) for the Hajj pilgrimage. "Tabarakaallah, I can accompany my father on the Hajj, although I am somewhat sad because I cannot be with my mother at the same time," he said with teary eyes.
He is grateful to receive priority quotas for the elderly and elderly companions, so he does not have to wait in line for too long. Meanwhile, according to the Head of the Group, Faozan, the condition of Suroso, who has to be pushed in a wheelchair by his companion when going to Masjid Nabawi, often inspires other pilgrims. As a result, other members of the group also help each other, including when going to Raudhah, to take turns pushing Mr. Suroso's wheelchair.
