"Dream - The second wave of Hajj pilgrims will begin their journey to Saudi Arabia today, Friday, May 24, 2024. They will land at King Abdul Aziz International Airport in Jeddah and depart for Mecca to perform the obligatory Umrah. Zulkarnain Nasution, the Head of Worship Guidance Division at the Saudi Arabian Hajj Organizing Officials (PPIH), has requested that the second wave of Hajj pilgrims perform the sunnah bath and wear the ihram cloth from the embarkation point."
"“We ask the Indonesian Hajj Guidance Team (TPHI) for the Kloter to pay attention to their pilgrims during departure, so that they have performed the sunnah bath and wear the ihram cloth since they are in the embarkation area in the homeland,” said Zulkarnain in Jeddah, Friday, May 24, 2024.“Especially for the pilgrims who have gone through the fast track service for departure process,” he added."
This is expected to facilitate pilgrims who will take the miqat in Yalamlam. Therefore, they do not need to take a bath or change their ihram garments on the plane.
"Those who will miqat in Yalamlam, only need to pray in their airplane seats and immediately intend to perform umrah ihram. To purify themselves, the pilgrims can perform tayammum as a substitute for ablution while inside the airplane," he said. Wearing the ihram cloth since the Embarkation is also important for pilgrims who will miqat at King Abdul Aziz International Airport, Jeddah. This is because there is not much time available."
"So, once arrived at the airport, pilgrims can immediately perform ablution, perform voluntary prayers and make the intention for Umrah, then proceed to the bus to depart to Mecca. 'Miqat' for Indonesian Hajj pilgrims can be done when they arrive at King Abdul Aziz Jeddah Airport. This has been determined by the Indonesian Ulama Council (MUI) in 1980, 1981, and 2006, that 'miqat' at Jeddah Airport is legally valid," concluded Zulkarnain.
Zulkarnain asked the worship guide officer to provide guidance to the congregation regarding the intention of umrah. The worship guide officer must also always remind the congregation about the prohibition after ihram. "Make sure they have not intended ihram when they are already on the plane but still wearing head coverings and underwear, and so on," he said.
"The government has anticipated situations like this by providing ihram cloth, socks, ihram gloves, ihram belt, flip-flops, and umbrellas at the Airport," he said.
