Dream - Hypertension or better known as high blood pressure is a health threat that is often unnoticed by many people. Although it may seem symptomless, blood pressure can suddenly spike without warning.
If left untreated, hypertension can increase the risk of heart disease, stroke, and various other health complications.
clear from Dr. Yohan Samudra, SpGK, AIFO-K, Clinical Nutrition Specialist from Premier Bintaro Hospital in the written statement of Ajinomoto World Hypertension Day received by Dream.
"So, understanding the risk factors of hypertension is the first step in preventing and managing this condition. Here are some main risk factors that can trigger hypertension. 'It is important for us to be able to prevent its risk factors. There are several triggering factors of hypertension, such as age factor, genetic factor,' added Dr. Yohan Samudra."
Dr. Yohan Samudra added that an unhealthy lifestyle is one of the most significant risk factors that can actually be controlled. Some lifestyle elements that contribute to hypertension include.
Conditions such as diabetes (high blood sugar) and hyperlipidemia (high cholesterol) can affect blood pressure. These diseases are often related to unhealthy eating patterns and lack of physical activity.
An inactive lifestyle can cause weight gain. Excess weight can put a burden on the heart and increase blood pressure. Lack of physical activity and obesity can lead to the risk of metabolic diseases, all of which contribute to hypertension.
"Sodium found in salt can cause the body to retain fluid, which increases blood volume and raises blood pressure. 'This fluid can be drawn into the blood vessels and increase blood flow volume. This condition will trigger an increase in blood pressure and cause hypertension,' added Dr. Yohan."
Applying a healthy lifestyle by exercising regularly, as well as controlling the intake of sugar, salt, and fat (GGL) as recommended by the Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) of Indonesia can prevent the occurrence of hypertension.
WHO also recommends a maximum salt consumption of 5 grams per day to help reduce the risk of hypertension. Reducing salt intake can lower blood pressure and improve heart health. In line with this, Ajinomoto Indonesia Group is promoting the concept of Wise Salt to contribute to the creation of a healthy lifestyle in society. "The Wise Salt campaign by Ajinomoto is one form of educating the public about the importance of a low-salt diet. Implementing Wise Salt in daily cooking activities is also very easy, simply by reducing the use of salt and replacing it with the addition of MSG," explained Grant Senjaya, Head of Corporate Communications, PT Ajinomoto Indonesia in the same statement.
Translation: "For example, in cooking chicken soup, instead of the usual practice of pouring 2 teaspoons (tsp) of salt into 1 liter of broth, it can be changed to 1 tsp of salt + ½ tsp of MSG. With this tip, we are already applying the concept of Wise Salt. "Life can be healthier by reducing the intake or use of salt in food preparation, while still being able to obtain a high taste of food," added Grant."
