Recipe for Chewy and Legit Sweet Gemblong

This snack is synonymous with the Puncak area in Bogor because it is widely sold in that area. Typically, gemblong is sold in a blue-colored container.

Chewy and Legit Sweet Gemblong Recipe

Gemblong is not only consumed to ward off boredom and hunger when facing traffic jams on the way to Puncak, but also consumed for breakfast. Because gemblong is a typical Betawi snack that is often sold alongside nasi uduk to be eaten in the morning. That's why Sahabat Dream might find it difficult to find it in the afternoon or evening. "Ingredients:"

"200 grams of sticky rice flour, 100 grams of grated coconut, 1/2 teaspoon of salt, 150 ml of warm coconut milk. Sugar coating ingredients: 80 grams of brown sugar, 60 grams of granulated sugar, 1/4 teaspoon of salt, 80 ml of water."

"How to Make Gemblong"

Step 1: Make the inside part of the gemblong by mixing glutinous rice flour, grated coconut, salt, and warm coconut milk. Stir until the mixture is well combined and becomes a smooth dough.

Take a small amount of dough and shape it into an elongated shape like the gemblong sold in the market. Do the same thing until all the dough is finished.

Heat the oil and fry the gemblong dough over medium heat until it becomes crispy and slightly golden on both sides.

Enter brown sugar, granulated sugar, salt, and water into a pan. Heat the mixture while stirring until the sugar dissolves. If necessary, crush the brown sugar first before putting it into the pan to speed up the melting process.

Insert the fried gemblong and stir quickly until the entire surface is covered in sugar. Keep stirring the gemblong until all the sugar sticks to the dough and there is no residue left. After that, serve the gemblong for breakfast or in the afternoon.
