Dream - Visual impairment affects approximately 2.2 billion people worldwide. In Indonesia alone, around 8 million people aged over 50 experience visual impairment issues. It is estimated that around 700,000 patients are affected by nAMD and DME. However, due to limited access to basic eye care services, half of these cases remain undiagnosed or untreated.

In addition, this also puts pressure on the healthcare system and places a significant burden on nurses. It is estimated that around 700,000 patients are affected by nAMD (Age-related Macular Degeneration) and DME (Diabetic Macular Edema)."

DME is a condition that often occurs in individuals who suffer from diabetes mellitus. DME can cause blindness, and in Indonesia, around 430 thousand people suffer from DME and face the risk of blindness.

Meanwhile, AMD is a condition of the eye related to age that affects the center of vision, namely the macula. AMD can occur in two main forms: wet (nAMD) and dry (categorized as age-related macular degeneration). AMD causes changes in central vision, which can lead to loss of sharp vision.

Although there are therapies such as laser therapy that help slow down the process of blindness, intravitreal therapy (injected into the eye) is more effective. However, continuous injection procedures can cause anxiety and stress, which in turn can affect the patient's condition.

Faricimab, a treatment that combines Ang-2 and VEGF-A, is known to contribute to vision loss by disrupting blood vessel stability, which can result in the formation of leaky new blood vessels and inflammation. Preclinical studies have shown that inhibiting both pathways can complement each other to stabilize blood vessels and reduce blood vessel leakage and inflammation.
