1. Colorful Vegetables with a Hint of Fat

Many fruits and vegetables contain a compound called carotenoids, natural pigments that give color to foods like tomatoes, carrots, and spinach. These compounds, including lycopene, beta-carotene, and lutein, act as antioxidants in the body.

"To better absorb carotenoids, add a little healthy fat such as from avocado or olive oil into a salad that includes romaine lettuce, carrots, and tomatoes."

2. Vitamin C with Plant-Based Iron Source

"Vitamin C can enhance the absorption of non-heme iron found in plant-based foods. For example, tomatoes in curry can help absorb iron in beans. The same goes for strawberries, which can help absorb iron in cereal."

               

3. Lemon and Green Tea
