Dream - Coinciding with the commemoration of National Resurrection Day, which falls on May 20th, this year L'Oréal Indonesia reaffirms its commitment to empower communities, especially women, in the fields of education and research.
"'Beauty That Moves: Women in Science' held by L'Oréal Indonesia on Wednesday, May 23, 2024, is a form of tribute to the important roles of women in the world of science."
This was emphasized by Prof. Dr. Herawati Sudoyo as the Board of Jury of the L'Oréal-UNESCO for Women in Science program, that the L'Oréal-UNESCO for Women in Science program. According to her, this event not only provides funding for research, but also serves as a platform for female researchers in the field of life science and non-life science by providing access to various resources needed for research to be more effective and productive.
"By overcoming financial barriers, this program enables them to pursue ambitious projects that have the potential to make a significant impact on national development," said Herawati.
Based on BRIN (National Research and Innovation Agency) data, it is stated that the participation of female researchers in Indonesia has successfully reached up to 45 percent, which means that this figure is higher than the global average female researcher participation rate, which only reaches 33 percent.
The presence of the L'Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science program certainly serves as a means for female researchers to share knowledge and experiences. This was obtained from the results of a survey where 55 percent of the program's alumni felt that networking was one of the important factors for female researchers. In that moment, the alumni will also assist and guide other female researchers for the future.
It is known that in the last 20 years, this program's alumni have involved up to 1,417 Indonesian researchers, and 65 percent of them are female researchers.
