6 Types of Chemotherapy Alkylating agents, work by preventing cancer cells from multiplying. Antimetabolites, work by disrupting the DNA and RNA of cancer cells. Antibiotic Anti Tumor, treats cancer by altering the DNA within cancer cells. Topoisomerase Inhibitors, drugs derived from plants (plant alkaloids) that work by disrupting the DNA of cancer cells. Mitotic Inhibitors, plant alkaloids that work by stopping the division of cancer cells. Corticosteroids, work by reducing inflammation or swelling in the body.
