Dream - Gelato ice cream and pizza, typical Italian dishes that are famous for their worldwide deliciousness. Italians usually enjoy them anytime, when starting the day, even until midnight.
Who would have thought, in Milan a ban is imposed on selling and buying those two dishes after midnight. The Milan government proposed a law that prohibits the buying and selling of gelato and pizza after midnight in an effort to protect the "peacefulness" of the citizens.
"For many people, enjoying gelato late at night is part of Italian culture, but some consider it to make the environment uncomfortable."
"Because in gelato and pizza shops, the situation becomes noisy and disturbs the surrounding residents. Previously, this regulation was proposed in 2013 but was not continued because it was rejected by several parties. In 2024, apparently the process resumed. The legislative document has been submitted by the Milan government and if approved, the sale of ice cream late at night will be prohibited in May 2024."
The following prohibition will be implemented in 12 districts. The rule is a ban on buying and selling all take-away food, including pizza and drinks after midnight.
"The goal is to find a balance between socialization and entertainment, as well as the peace and tranquility of the citizens," said Marco Granelli, Deputy Mayor of Milan.
The following rule will be effective starting from mid-May 2024. This policy will begin at half past midnight on weekdays and half past two in the morning on weekends and national holidays.
